About Our Museums
The Moore County Historical Association owns and maintains five house-museums, tobacco barn, and corn crib built between the 1700s and 1800s. In addition, the Association maintains the historic Kenneth Black Cemetery, Old Scotch Graveyard, and Mechanics Hill Cemetery.
Southern Pines Area
The following house-museums are located on the Shaw House property at 110 Morganton Road, at the corner of SW Broad Street in Southern Pines. The houses are open Thursday through Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free and advance reservations are always appreciated.

The Shaw House properties are located on Morganton Road at the intersection of SW Broad Street in Southern Pines, North Carolina. From the traffic circle at Pinehurst, North Carolina, take NC 211–US 15501 south. Drive approximately 2.1 miles and turn left at the Pinecrest Plaza traffic light onto Morganton Road. Carthage Area
The following house-museums are located on the Bryant House property at 3361 Mount Camel Road in Carthage. They are open the 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, May through October, or by appointment. Please call (910) 692-2051 for special tour arrangements. Admission is free and advance reservations are always appreciated.

The Bryant House and the McLendon Cabin are located on Mount Carmel Road near the Harris Crossroads west of Carthage, North Carolina. From the traffic circle at Pinehurst, North Carolina, take US 15501 north toward Carthage. Drive approximately 3.4 miles and turn left, onto NC 73 West. Drive approximately 3.5 miles and turn right onto Beulah Hill Church Road. The houses are aproximately 5.6 miles on the right near the bottom of the hill. Please note, Beulah Hill Church Road changes names to Mount Carmel Road after the second crossroad (Harris Crossroad). Please go to our Locations page to access a Google driving map.
